The depiction of forensic psychology in popular shows, books and
motion pictures produced a surge of enthusiasm for the field,
particularly in the last couple of years. Notwithstanding, these are
glamorized portrayals of the profession and are not by any means
accurate. The persons who practice this profession aren't entirely
"forensic psychologists." They can also be clinical
psychologists or child psychologists,
nonetheless their skill or knowledge may be needed to give
evaluation, and suggestions in legal cases.
Some of the functions they perform are identifying
a person's competency to stand trial, psychological wellness
assessment in insanity plea cases, and forensic evaluation of a
person's personality. For example, a clinical psychologist may be solicited to
determine the mental state of a suspect or a child psychologist, will
be made a request to assess kids subjected to abuse, or set them up
for court declaration in criminal or child custody cases.
